1979

Plant officially inaugurated by the late Amir, His Highness Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa

1980

First shipment of Butane

1985

Entered into an agreement to expand the processing capacity of the Plant from 145 to 170 MMSCFD

1988

Contract signed to provide additional processing capacity of 110 MMSCFD

1990

New expansion facilities commissioned with 40% increase in production

1991

Awarded gold medal Award for occupational safety in the Oil and Gas industry from ROSPA

1993

Exports of liquefied gas reach an all time high

1999

Banagas was honored to receive His Royal Highness The Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence

2001

Awarded Highly Commended Sector Award in Oil and Gas industry from ROSPA

2002

Received the biggest ship since establishment

2004

Received a merit award trophy in recognition of the Company’s leading role within the GCC industrial sector in the succession and indigenization of its work force

2006

Awarded three International safety awards from ROSPA of the United Kingdom and Gas Processors Association of the United States of America. Achieved 3 million man-hours without a lost time accident

2008

A legal framework was introduced for the Expansion Project to become an independent Company, the Bahrain National Gas Expansion Company, solely owned by the Oil & Gas Holding Company

2011

7.0 million man-hours worked without a lost time accident since 27th May 2002
