On the Sidelines of the Annual SHE Event, Banagas & Tawseah Chairman Visits Banagas and Praises its Achievements

The Bahrain National Gas Company (Banagas) hosted Mr. Mark Thomas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banagas and Tawseah and Group Chief Executive Officer of the Oil and Gas Holding Company B.S.C. (nogaholding) at the Company’s headquarters on the sidelines of the annual Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) Week. Mr. Thomas was received by Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer, and the Executive Management, and toured the SHE event.

Held under the theme ‘Preserving the Environment to Ensure a Sustainable Atmosphere for Future Generations’ the SHE event aims to educate and increase the awareness of employees and visitors of the importance of safety, health, and the environment. The event saw participation from various departments within Banagas, including the Department of Health, Safety, Environment and Industrial Security, the Operations Department, and the Maintenance Department. Several external parties also participated such as the Ministry of Health, the Supreme Council for Environment, the General Directorate of Civil Defense, the Electricity and Water Authority, the General Directorate of Traffic, the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, Al-Hekma International School and a number of local contractors, to showcase various SHE projects and exchange knowledge and experiences.

During the visit, Mr. Thomas and the Executive Management planted saplings in the Company's headquarters, as an expression of Banagas’ commitment to the agricultural development of the Kingdom of Bahrain and in support of the national afforestation campaign. 

Mr. Thomas praised the Company's achievements in the fields of safety, health, and environment and the awards it has received from prestigious organizations such as the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents in the United Kingdom, the British Safety Council, and the American Gas Processors Association. Banagas announced more than 8 million hours without lost time injury (LTI) in 2022, which was a significant milestone and achievement for the Company. 

Mr. Thomas also lauded the efforts of all employees for following the highest standards of safety at work, as well as appraising the SHE Week Committee for their tremendous efforts in raising awareness and making this a successful event.
